So I have an Optiplex 9020mt, and when I got it, it had 14GB Ddr3. I thought that was an odd number, and it turns out it's 3x4gb and 1x2GB. I looked through speccy and CPUz to see my RAM speed, and it says 798mhz. I thought this was supposed to run at 1600mhz, that's what the PC3-12800 means, right? So I thought maybe it was the mismatched sticks of ram (slightly different 4gb and the 2gb), so I put in only the two matching sticks of 4gb into dims 1 and 2 (2nd and 4th from the CPU on my mobo), and it says it's still running around 800mhz. Am I just misreading how ram speeds are read? Is it 800mhz x2 because it's running in dual? If the 14gb is running at 800mhz single channel, is it better to have 8gb in dual?
