RAM stick pick

Hi,

I have a motherboard with two memory slots. And I already have Patriot Viper 3 installed in one slot.

I want to make my computer process faster. So I was wondering that I should buy another DDR3 RAM.
My question is that can I use another brand of DDR3 for the last slot? What are pros and cons about this issue?
And Do I have to buy another 4GB RAM for the last slot? Or can I change it to 8GB?

The problem is; if you want faster RAM you have to buy two sticks. The one you already have is 1600Mhz and if you buy a second stick of say 1866Mhz, it will automatically slow down to 1600Mhz. So, it depends on what you want to spend... if money is no object buy two new DDR3 2133 or 1866 sticks. And if you're on a budget, get another 1600Mhz Patriot Viper 3 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)... another brand should work though not as well, so for best compatibility all sticks should be the same brand, model, size and speed to get the best performance out of your RAM.
