RAM stick question

Hello,

I wanna upgrade my RAM from 8 to 16gb, since it has been a long time coming. I currently have Kingston XyperX BEAST 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 2133MHz, but since those are not being sold anywhere except e-bay and I've found a great deal on these https://www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-2400c11q-32gsr 2X8GB, I'm thinking of going with the latter. My question is, will my 2x4 work with the above mentioned G.Skill together as a total of 24GB RAM, or should I just retire my 2x4 and run only with the 2x8?

I've never had different RAM sticks so I don't know what to expect. Don't wanna "fry" anything.

My motherboard is ASRock h97 pro4.

Any input from people with similar experience would be appreciated.

Thanks!
~Rafael.

I'm an advocate of not mixing and matching rams in a system. In the long run you're rewarded for buying ram kits or identical sticks of ram. The reason kits exist is due to the fact that the sticks are made to run in tandem, from the factory. I'd say ditch the Kingston kit and stick with the G.Skill kit. Don't mix the two. On another note, make sure you're on the latest BIOS update for your motherboard before you drop the new kit in place of the old.
