Currently in the box:

Ryzen 3700X
Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI) ATX AM4 Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory

Am I asking for trouble by adding:

Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory

For total Ram:
48 GB
Using 4 Mem Slots.

Thanks,

In my experience i have had some success using different brand size and speeds of memory Modules. However this is a little hit and miss and it never an ideal Solution. however In your case. If your looking to upgrade anyway. I would not recommend that you go buy another kit that is identical to your original If you want more then 32 GB of ram in the future. I would Buy the vengeance 32GB kit now. Try it and see if it works with your current kit. Worst case scenario . The two kits are incomparable. You pull you the 16 GB kit. Sell it and then you will have room To Upgrade to 64GB later on down the track
Best case scenario. You slap in the 32 GB kit and you get 48 GB of ram.
Be warned that this configuration may cause random errors/ BSOD but it could also work just fine
