RAM structure; 16 GB pure vs 2x8 GB

Is there any difference in function between ram 16 GB pure RAM or one that consist of 2x8 GB ?

A single stick of 16GB RAM will (sometimes) perform worse than a 2x8GB kit. Your motherboard can take advantage of dual channel memory, which does provide a small increase in performance.

You need a pair to take advantage of the motherboard's dual-channel memory feature - - - with a single stick you won't get that. A single stick will still work of course, just slower.

RAM needs a partner. If you will look at the motherboard it will have RAM slots designed for dual-channel RAM. The CPU is set to deal with Dual channel RAM. RAM works with its soulmate to offer the user the effective RAM speed. Let's assume you purchase one stick of 16GB 3000MHz CL15 1.5V RAM. If you checked your RAM speed it would say 1500MHz. Only when working together will 2 sticks offer the advertised speed. There is usually a slight FPS penalty during gaming sessions. Run a benckmark and that single channel RAM will lower your score.

Thats not true. A single stick will still operate at its rated frequency, but thats not where the bonus performance from dual channel comes into play.
