RAM needs a partner. If you will look at the motherboard it will have RAM slots designed for dual-channel RAM. The CPU is set to deal with Dual channel RAM. RAM works with its soulmate to offer the user the effective RAM speed. Let's assume you purchase one stick of 16GB 3000MHz CL15 1.5V RAM. If you checked your RAM speed it would say 1500MHz. Only when working together will 2 sticks offer the advertised speed. There is usually a slight FPS penalty during gaming sessions. Run a benckmark and that single channel RAM will lower your score.
