I'm building a DAW system, and have settled on the Asus P8P67 Pro R3 motherboard. I just need to match some good RAM to this now. I use a LOT of samples in my music, so need around 16GB RAM. Looking at the QVL for this board, they only show support for up to 8GB for Crucial XMS Ram. How accurate would this be? Is anyone using over 8GB on this board?

Thanks.

No, it's the 1.65 volt.

Thanks for the tip for the GSKILL. Why would you choose GSKILL over Crucial out of interest? Also, why the 1333 over the 1600? I noticed even the 1600 is cheaper than Corsair.

Stick with 1.5 volt modules.

GSKILL is known for being a good manufacturer and their memory is "highly tweakable". If you are overclocking or not, they also get the recommendation for their good pricing.

At those speeds there is little to no noticable difference between DDR3-1333 and DDR3-1600. The both are fast... Check the price differences between the two and go with the cheaper. What does make a performance difference is the latency level. CL7 will respond better than CL8 or CL9. The more important part here is 1.5 volts and the lowest latency that fits within your budget.
