Ram type compatability question

Was given info by local merchant and wanted to check? They said Corsair Vengeance was hard to overclock and unreliable with my build.

They suggested G skill Ram however the actual detail of the component they did not include so I was wondering if some kind soul could tell me which 16GB G.Skill ram would be compatible with my build

I'm after the 2133mhz I think

I'd stick with Corsair. Never failed on me.

G-skill, corsair, mushkin, kingston, patriot are all reputable brand with lifetime warranty.

I have heard A LOT of issues with Vengeance lately so I would probably take their advice.

Why would you want to put quad channel memory in a dual channel MB? I know it says it is compatable but why not get dual channel ram? What will the computer be used for?

I don't know much about ram I was hoping someone could just point me in the direction of a specific part so that I don't buy any troubles. This computer will probably be only used for games but as I may have need for video editing or graphic work I wanted to make sure I had enough ram to handle it just in case.

Just reading the discussions on Tom's and I don't see any A LOT of the RAM problem, not to mention the Vengeance series : )

If the Pc is to be mainly used for gaming then you wouldn't need more than 8gb and depending on how much you will actually use it for video editing and or graphics work that would determine if you want to go for 16gb.
I'm playing MW3 and with the resource monitor open on another screen it says that I'm using a total of 5 to 6 gb of ram. That's with other things open and using memory as well.

I just built a HEX Core sytem with the Corsair 16 GB Vengance kit (1600's - C9) and just over clocked them and nothing went wrong and the system is stable. But my motherboard is a M5A99X EVO. The processor is a 1055T Phenom II AMD, it's default speed is 2.8 and it's running 3.3 in turbo. Some people say it can run 4.0 Ghz but I don't have the proper cooling solution. I am happy with the way it is right now. So, I am saying Corsair's are fine in my opinion.

To be honest I have had both Corsair and G.Skill and they are pretty much both the same , you can't go wrong with either one so flip a coin and call it.
