Question RAM Upgrade ASUS FX505D

I have recently bought ASUS FX505DD Laptop which comes with AMD Ryzen 5 3550H CPU and 8GB DDR4-2666 single rank memory. I am planning to add another RAM on the empty slot. My question is:

1. Can I buy a 16GB DDR4-2666 (single/dual rank) and install it alongside the existing 8GB (single rank)? In this case total memory would be 24GB.

2. On AMD website, system memory specification is mentioned as 2400MHz for Ryzen 5 3550H so I am confused if I should opt for 2400 instead of the existing 2666 MHz.

Any help will be appreciated. TIA.

1. You can but it may not work, work at slower speeds or unstable or not work at all. RAM is sold in sets for this reason. I would buy a 2x8GB set of RAM for a total of 16GB in Dual channel. 16GB is more then enough for every day use and gaming and unless you are doing some memory intensive programs 24Gb will largely be wasted.
