Hey Community,

Looking for help in regards to RAM increase. Currently on a 2x4GB setup and wanting to add additional (if my computer can handle it).
  1. am I better off replacing all Ram with 4 identical sticks or just add additional 2 sticks? Will it help performance?
  2. Any specific recommendations for what sticks to use with my specs? Best brands or even specific sticks in your opinions?
  3. what to expect from PC after installing new RAM. I.E. any potential issues or system settings that may cause hickups?
  4. Also would love advice on any areas in my current setup that could use modification or upgrades? - I understand not a top machine, but works well with mild gaming I do.

Thanks for any suggestions and advice!

Current Specs:
-AMD Ryzen 5 1600
-Gigabyte AB350-Gaming -CF
-Nvidia GeForce GTX970
-M12IIBronze EvoEdition Power Supply

I have no problems with that scenario. I also would upgrade CPU if beneficial, but not comfortable knowing what my motherboard compatibility would be? Any suggestions on CPU upgrade? Model or series best for my setup? Ryzen? X series? I have no issues upgrading components for performance benefits. If my case can handle any size increases.

Thanks for your help on this.

If you want something new I would suggest the Ryzen 3600, its a much stronger gaming CPU compared to your 1600. Just be aware you may have to update your BIOS before you upgrade, you need BIOS F40 for Ryzen 3000.

Unless you are maxing out the 8GB you have currently installed there is no benefit to adding more.

If you do want to upgrade then I would suggest you replace the two sticks of 4GB with two sticks of 8GB. I would also suggest you get 3200mhz or greater speed RAM.

My CPU max factory setting is 2667 MHz. Still go with higher speed? Benefit from 3200 (or greater)?

Id still buy faster RAM incase you upgrade your CPU down the line.

Just do a search in Google for QVL (Qualified Vendor List) for your motherboard. I am running a Ryzen 7 3700X with 16GB of Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200 mhz ram with no issues.

Hi guys! I'm actually not quite familiar with computers but can you help me upgrade my ram? Any recommendations of what ram should I buy would help. I've been looking up for articles about upgrading ram but I really can't take all the information in my head. Can I add a ram stick like 4gb/8gb or should I add the same ram 2gb? Sorry for my English... I hope you can help me. :D
