RAM upgrade from 1 to 2

Hi, I used to have a 1600Mhz 8GB ram, so I wanted to get a second one and in fact I bought a new one but both sticks run in a lower frequency (1333Mhz). My question is why are they runing at 1333Mhz if they are
1600Mhz? and is it possible that if I configure them to 1600Mhz they will get damaged or what would happen if I configure them to their normal 1600Mhz?

You need to go into the bios and enable xmp profiles (intel) or manually set it to 1600 (amd)

Thank you, went to MSI XTU and I could change the memory speed. It runs hotter and better but I decided to swap again to normal profile because I wouldn't like to reduce the RAM's lifespan hehehe
Maybe I'll get a new cooler and a RAM cooler so I could overclock agan the RAM without fear 😛

the ram will usually outlive your upgrade cycle. It was designed to be run at 1600, its Intel/AMD native memory controller speed that holds it down.
