Ram Upgrade Issue

I am using Asus r510jx.with 8gigs of ram(4gb on-board+4gb card)
Is it okay to upgrade to 12 gb or it will creat problem having different amount of ram 4gb+8gb..

Given the nature of your unit, it's always advised to update your BIOS to the latest available. Are you on BIOS revision 204? Once that is cleared you could borrow an 8GB stick of ram which is rated to run at 1600MHz with a voltage of 1.35v. That information comes from your product's specicfications page whereby it runs off of DDR3L ram. The L is for Low Voltage.

If the latter doesn't work, you can work off of the 4+4Gb you currently have.

Can give it a try, no guarantees they will play - though chances are good, if they do effectively you will have 8GB running in dual channel and the odd 4 GB off the 8GB stick will run in single channel mode via Intel's Flex technology
