Hey guys
My Rig has an old i7-920 @ 2.67, GENE II ROG MB paired with a 6gb ram DDR3 (3x2gb). Recently i bought a Nvidia 1060 to replace my Radeon 7950. The problem is, with some games, my pc still struggles to get a fluid experience, even in medium settings (and some reduced to low).
I play some dirtybomb, mass effect, and tried recently planetside 2. Especially in Planetside, the computer choked a lot! Had the setting lowered to low/medium and now its playable. Since the GPU should be strong enough to tackle this game and i was trying to save some money for the time being...
Is it worth OC my 920 to 4.0 and upgrading my ram to 16 gb? Will the performance be close (ish) to the ryzen 1600x? Will it suffice to play most games for the next 2 years?
Or will i just waste money? better off buying a a ryzen 1600x, mobo and 16gb ram?
I don't do video or imaging editing. I just use it for games and minor stuff (office, internet etc).
