I have a Dell Precision T3620 with a Intel Core i7 7700K CPU. This computer can handle up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM. It came with 32GB (4 sticks of 8GB Kingston HP24D4U7S8MD-8 RAM) installed. I want to upgrade to 64GB.
In the past, I have usually bought Crucial RAM. Crucial has a compatibility calculator on its website that can be used to find compatible RAM for each model of computer.
Here are the results for my computer model:
https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/dell/precision-workstation-3620
It found that CT2K16G4DFRA32A (a kit of two 16GB sticks, of which I would need to buy two in order to get 64GB) was compatible.
Here's the Amazon page for this kit:
On the Amazon page above, I noticed that there was a message saying "there is a newer version of this item", which linked to Crucial's CP2K16G4DFRA32A kit:
CP2K16G4DFRA32A RAM has a heat spreader and is cheaper for some reason. I'm not entirely sure whether it's better or worse than the CT2K16G4DFRA32A, or whether it's compatible with my computer (as it doesn't show up on Crucial's website when I search for RAM compatible with my computer).
Which one of these options would be better?
Also, are there any options from other brands that are either better, or just as good but with a lower price?
