Hey guys,

I recently bought the following laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad E14 Gen 5 (14″ AMD))

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 7530U Processor
This laptop has 8GB of soldered DDR4-3200MHz memory.

I would like to add another 8GB of ram.

I am trying to determine which 8GB stick of ram I should buy to get the best performance on my machine.
Would single rank ram sticks vs dual rank ram sticks make a difference here?

The cheapest 3200mhz ram appears to be this one ($22):

Where as I can spend about 50% more and get this one by Crucial ($32 CAD), with the "chance" that I receive a dual rank stick of ram.

Not sure which to get? Or if there are other considerations/models that I am missing that might yield the best result.
Thanks for any help/guidance.

Go here and run the scanner see what it shows.
Crucial

That says you can get a 8GB stick for a little over 15 bucks but that's usd.
So I understand that this ram is "compatible"... but my question is if it is "optimal" or not. Will I get better performance seeking out a dual rank ram stick instead of single rank?

Some reading.

I think your picking nits.
Thanks for the info. Ended up watching some video comparisons, and see that there doesn't seem to be much of a difference (between 0-1% increase in FPS while gaming... and this is not a gaming machine).

This guy does make note to stay away from 1Rx16 modules as they will allegedly have a notable impact on performance.

I think I am going to go with the cheaper of the two 3200mhz options I posted in OP. Thanks for your help.
