Ram !!! upgrade

Solution

Ram is sold in kits for a reason.
A motherboard must manage all the ram using the same specs of voltage, cas and speed.
Ram from the same vendor and part number can be made up of differing manufacturing components over time.
Some motherboards can be very sensitive to this.
That is why ram vendors will NOT support ram that is not bought in one kit.

I would buy a kit of the size you need as a replacement and keep the old kit as a spare.
Which is your motherboard. If you have 4 dimm slots in your motherboard, you'll be able to add another 2 sticks of 8GB, if your motherboard support more than 16GB. (so you'll end having 2x4GB + 2x8GB = 24GB) It can have some compatibility issues, but if you can, try to find same model as you have with 8GB. I've never had any of this issue, but always looked for same ram speed and also latencies.

HEY I GOT A ASUS Z170 A 32 gb and 2 Ripjaws 4gb ddr4 2400mghz and planning to get 2 of the same stick but 8 gb instead
