[SOLVED] RAM upgrade?

I currently use a Samsung M471B1G73QH0-YK0 (8GB) ram in my laptop.
Would it work if I put a Hynix HMT351S6CFR8A-PB (4GB) ram stick in the second slot?
The only difference I found is in organization and DRAM organization.

Samsung M471B1G73QH0-YK0
(organization 1Gx64; DRAM organization 512Mx8)

Hynix HMT351S6CFR8A-PB
(organization 512Mx64; DRAM organization 256Mx8)

Should work without issue since they are both ddr3-1600, not optimal but will function as expected.

What do you mean by not optimal?
Is the Samsung ram alone faster while low ram usage?

If the board supports dual-channel, then only the first 4gb will be dual-channel and the remaining 4gb single-channel, where 2 x 8gb would be optimal and all memory dual-channel.

Not a big deal really, have done it plenty of times and when mix-matching parts to get it the best you can do with the budget on hand.
