RAM usage doubled?

I have 8 GB of G. Skill Ripjaws 1600 (at 1866 currently). I usually have around 30% RAM usage, which I know is normal. All of the sudden, it doubles and is at a constant 60% usage when I log onto my PC the next day. Didn't install anything new. I checked task manager to see what is using up all the memory, but it's all the same! What's the issue?

OH... and I was so sure... Hmmm.... OK, how often do you turn on your computer? If it's been sitting off for a while, that would explain your problem.

Have you ever scanned for tracking cookies? I use SuperAntiSpyware FREE edition.. those little suckers can have a slight effect if enough of them accumulates on your computer.

Another option would be to install a Startup Manager... a popular free one is Autoruns ... it will display the programs starting up on boot... and allow you to uncheck them. I would also look at the Notification Icons around the taskbar clock... if you have a lot there.. try to go into the settings and disable autostart. Programs known to startup are Spotify, Yahoo Messenger, Skype, Steam, Printer Software... that would help a lot.. as well as speed up your system a bit.

Do you have an anti-virus software installed? Some people live by them... and some people have/use them when needed... that would be me. I always turn off the active protection and run daily scans...

I have never tried tracking my cookies. The only programs that start up when I log on is Steam and a few apps that let me change my GPU between OC mode and normal mode and adjust fan speeds. I have Kaspersky anti-virus. I really trust it and recently did a full scan. A few months ago, I got a new 1TB HDD and a new Samsung 250 GB SSD (old SSD went to my second PC) All I have installed are the games that I play and programs that measure anything from PC temps to fan speed.

Windows Resource monitor allows you to see all the processes that you are running, how much memory they are using.
Type their names into Google to find out what they are.
Beware of websites that try to scare you into buying their PC cleaner or defragger or whatever

One thing to take into consideration... it's actually GOOD for your system to use up your RAM... that's what it's for. Oh, another thing that has influence on RAM would be your PageFile. Do you have that turned on? If it's off, it's possible your system would use up more of your RAM. I have mine turned off since you really don't need it if you have at least 6-8GB installed.

Yeah, I know it's good. But now my PC is using 90% of my RAM with just this page open. WTH IS WRONG.

When you open up Task Manager and then SORT by programs (or apps) that use the most RAM being at the top... which ones are using the most?

Kaspersky Anti-Virus and System and compressed memory. With nothing open, those 2 programs don't even use enough memory to be using 7.3 GB. Only have around 600 MB available with nothing open. Complete BS. Other running programs use like 0.1-1 percent.

It sounds like you didn't pay attention to what I said... SORT them... and tell the programs using the most memory... it will tell you so you can pinpoint the problem.

I did sort them. I always have them sorted. Those are the 2 that use the most RAM..... From biggest usage to lowest usage.

I have no idea which two... you were never clear... could you list them and post the amount each one is using?
