Question RAM usage too high ?

Check Task Manager. Sort memory items highest to lowest and whichever process you find is consuming a fair bit you can right click and search about it. Check startup items tab in Task Manager and disable anything you don't like starting up with Windows.

Also run Malwarebytes.

yea i was checking the task manager but theres a only few tasks that uses 100-20mb and it still says that it uses 5gb of 16gb

i just downloaded and i scanned my pc .not threats has been found but is it normal if my pc uses 5gb of memory when im not doing anything ?

Quite normal.
When you first install windows it uses very little.
Over time windows will start loading the programs you use most into memory at start up.
This is to make the programs you use the most start faster.

IF another program needs the used memory windows will clear out the unused program/s and it is now available for other uses.

Think of it as unused memory is wasted memory.

is its completely fine if it uses 5gb when im not doing anything?

Not to worry.

You may have lots of code in ram, but it is not being used.

Windows keeps unused code in ram in anticipation of possible quick reuse.

If you were actually short of ram, it would show up in hard fault page statistics.

battlenet, adrenalin, and Steelseries engine all using a little.
30% isn't that much really, you are hardly running out of memory.
how much do you use if you close chrome as well?

windows 10/11 will grow/shrink to run in how ever much memory you give it.
Windows is pretty good at managing your memory for you and does it in ways to enhance the experience.

Unused ram isn't really helping you. Its doing nothing at all.

hard page faults are normal... they just mean windows needs to access data on drives, its not necessarily a sign you need more ram.

Hard faults are normal, in that they may be necessary if ram is insufficient.
But, when resolving a hard page fault, the app stops dead while it is resolved.
That is forever if the page file is on a HDD, much faster on a ssd.

If a running app shows any significant number of hard page faults per second (>0) when running, then the lack of ram is hurting.
If you reactivate a new app after it has been out of the system for a while, that is when there will be a large number of hard page faults needed to get it all back into core. That situation is not a problem.

windows will compress files in memory instead of writing them to storage, in case you want to open them again. It is much faster for it to do that than to wait for storage to load it all again. So that might account for some of the usage as well. it shows as the compressed amount next to in use in task manager

really, everyone has different ideas as to how much is too much ram usage. I use about 36% at idle but I have a few programs I could close to reduce usage but I like them so why close them - they serve useful purposes to me. I have more than enough ram to not bother. Most ram I ever use is if I open a windows 10 Virtual Machine as then I hit 20gb of usage. Or if I play a game that chews my ram due to memory leaks. I seem to find those.

In an ideal world, you would like this "usage" to approach 100%
That way, there would be more code available for instant reuse.
But windows always leaves sufficient free space to quickly load in something that you have never used before.
In use is not the same as allocated.

but when im playing gameS is it ok if my ram is at 100% ?

Your current workload requires 20.3GB of physical ram.
16GB is not enough for you.
Close all unnecessary apps - like browsers, discord, etc.
Or upgrade to 32GB.
i just realised that problem with rams was the game update because when i play warzone the ram goes to up 15gb and then it goes down to 10gb .well i think thats a game problem

if you want to keep playing the game, its sort of your problem unless they fix it.

Warzone sounds like it has a memory leak as short search shows adding more ram isn't answer, it just postpones when the problems occur - link

My PC's memory usage in process of dropping the size of page file and how much is cached as up until last week I was playing a game that was using more space than I have. Wouldn't think 32gb isn't enough but if the game has a memory leak, it will keep taking memory until you run out. Only real way to fix that is to close game and load it again.
