RAM voltage guide

Hi guys, I'm kind of a novice with hardware and I have a question about RAM,
My build is:
FX-8350
2x8GB RAM HyperX Fury @1866Mhz (total of 16GB)
R7 370 MSI Gaming Edition 4GB GDDR5
970A SLI KRAIT Edition MB.

Now my issue is, when I built this rig, windows would randomly start crashing, and then I tried to play games, and about 5-10 minutes into the game, either my computer freezes or restarts. So I decided to go into the MSI command center and up the DRAM voltage from the stock 1.5v to 1.6v and still the same problem then I put it at 1.71v and all the sudden windows runs fine and all games run at about high setting and have not crashed since. The problem is, I hear people saying that your RAM voltage should not go higher than 1.6v so is it wrong to keep it at 1.71v, could I be damaging my system?

Try DRAM at 1.6 and raise the CPU/NB voltage to 1.23, sounds like you have FX with a weak MC (memory controller)
