RAM wasn't the answer to Y2K3

I got the RAM in. 1 Gig wouldn't do it that well.

I bought a new gfx card and upgraded to 1 Gig of RAM (not that my computer
didn't need it anyway), and I was hoping I could run Y2K3 well.

It runs better. A lot better. But, it's not what I'd call playable.

Oh well. There's something about ECP that doesn't like my computer.

I guess it's back to playing with the standard units.

I'm using the WGL mod, a soundpack, hi res ground, and hi res sky. It works
dynamite.

ive had the Y2K3 mod for about a week now and i havent had any
problems with lag. Im running a 2.6ghz P4, 512MB RAM and 9600SE Radeon
graphics and it runs smooth for me. i have used it both online and
have been playing all the original campaigns without any trouble at
all. my visual settings r on the highest but my terrain detail has
always been on normal as i find it pointless to have it higher. only
problem i have found with the mod is that its very unstable with
certain CTI missions. i CTD within a couple of minutes with MFCTI 1.16
but i have played other versions without any problems. ur problems
could be to do with ur graphic settings and card. before my radeon i
had a geforce MX420 and i didnt have any troubles with it till i
started playing with FDF where i always had to have my settings set to
the lowest to stop it struggling. anyway hope this helps and good luck
finding a solution.

Tell me your secret then. It's lag city for me.

I'm talking--I started the mission "Return to Eden" from the original CWC
campaign with a frame rate of 3.

Interesting. Conversely, FDF runs like a dream on my machine--easily wipes
Y2K3's butt with baby-behind smoothness.

well i only had lag problems with FDF while i had my MX420 but i
havent had any problems with any mods (apart from the WGL gaia
island!) since i got my Radeon 9600. only thing i can really suggest
is to fiddle around with the game settings. its pretty strange however
seeing as i have all my settings as i normally do for ofp and y2k3
runs as smooth as anything. my fps is usually around 20-30 sometimes
going below 20 to at most 10 when some really heavy fighting kicks up.
do u use the dxdll with the llaumax water textures? it says that u can
use both and still have the water reflections but i found that this
isnt the case and took it as i thought it could cause more conflicts.

Wow. I'd kill a russkie for those kind of frame rates.

I took back my 5900 GT, waiting on the 6600 GT that supposed to be out by
mid/late October. We'll see if the new card helps.

dxdll seems to slow my machine down too.

I slow down significantly with Y2K3, ECP (in any form), and dxdll.

I don't slow down with FDF, WGL, Kegety's HiSky, any of the Vietnam stuff,
the WWII stuff, or just about any other OFP addon.
