RAM won't boot at 3000mhz with XMP enabled in dual channel

These are the cpuZ readings in single channel no XMP(top), and XMP on (bottom). They only boot in dual channel in slots B1 and A2, which are slots 2 and 3 according to cpuZ. It doesn't make sense that it reads in DUAL with those other two slots.

It's now booting in dual at slot A2 and B2, but still won't work with XMP enabled, if I turn it on the PC gets stuck in a boot loop till the bios decides it's not working and lets me edit. My specs are:

  I5-8600k
  GTX980
  ASUS Z370P MOBO
  1x8GB corsair vengeance DDR4 3000mhz
  1x8GB G.skill DDR4 3000mhz

bios is fully updated

Mixing and matching modules is hit and miss. Even identical modules purchased at different times can be incompatible. Now that I noticed they aren't a matching set , not surprised by the results. I missed that in the pics.
