Hello, I have been seeing for a few months that my ram in task manager doesnt add up to the proccess's using ram. So id have 3.5 gigs used but the only process's would only add up to 1.5 gigs. I kept researching untill i found "RamMap" through youtube And i clicked "Empty working sets" and it just made my ram Go waay down until it actually add up to how much my process's use ram. But this keeps happening after a few minutes or untill i start another app. Is there a way to fix working sets using so much ram?

EDIT: I didnt know that much about ram so thanks Colif.

You aren't the only user. You may be the only human one but windows has to use resources to run the processes you ask it to run, or to simply run windows. So freeing this ram is only going to be a temporary thing as these processes are needed.

Have a look at detail tab of task manager, you will see there are more than just your user, there will be system and Network Service and Local Service, as well as yourself. All of these are needed to keep windows working

There are some things that have to be in ram to work, like drivers. you can't have all the ram free, and why do you want it free anyway? Its not like windows 10 isn't already trying to give you as much space as it can, empty ram is not useful.

Windows will get out of your way...

Windows will get out of your way if you need all your ram, but before then, it will use it to make PC faster.

The Working set is the active process in ram, if you delete it, and then open something else, the files of the "something else" become the working set. Only way to stop using a working set is turn PC off and not use it. No ram used then... problem solved??
