When I put another 2GB Ram (already 2GB is there) my system displays only 2.96GB RAM please give advice//

It only recognizes 2.98GB since your probably running a 32 bit version of XP

To save you from Vista, I would recommend Windows 7 64bit if you need to upgrade immediately or wait for Windows 8 64bit when it comes out. What are you doing that causes you to max out your RAM?
