Before I go to say the problem,I want to give you a clear background.

It all started with the CMOS battery. I always had to fix the system date.I went to the shop from where I bought my system, they tested it & says it's not the CMOS, it's my motherboard. They fixed that.

But after some days it's started to show problem with RAM. I was using (2+4)=6 GB but now I'm using 2 GB because with the 4 GB on another slot,my system just don't start.Just one beep with the black screen on the monitor. With only 4 GB, same think but with only 2GB the system run.So I started to go with 2GB only.Although I checked the 4GB on another PC,it's totally fine.

Now for the last 4-5 days,I'm having the same problem again. The system turns ON & after 2-3 minutes the monitor gets black out. Then the screen appear again & goes black out again. It's happening randomly.

I just want to know from where the problem is coming from. Is it from motherboard or from video card or others ? Besides my HDD is showing an attention with HD Tune software.I changed the SATA connection cable but no luck.

Can you check your PSU ? The random Black screen is sign of a failing PSU. However it might as well be your motherboard. As it is an old and repaired board it is highly possible for it to develop faults. If your PSU checks out OK then have the mobo replaced. Its my 2 cents :)

Thanks for the quick reply. I will check my PSU. :D . Here's another think I forget to mention earlier, it seems sometimes the screen is bright & sometimes less than that. Is this another symptom for PSU failure ? But the monitor power indication light is always WHITE even when it is black out.Doesn't that mean it's getting it's power properly ?

Is your monitor power from your PSU? If not then it is not related, probably just the monitor scanning for a link for the display. Even then, if you can, test the monitor with another PC to see if it displays image. If you open up the PC case and can smell a funky sulfur like smell or you can hear popping and sizzling sound when powering up the PC then change the PSU immediately.

look at this for good PSU recommendations. Get at least a tier 2 PSU if your gaming or overclocking. Otherwise Tier 3 is OK for most.

No my monitor power is not from PSU & I don't have any smell after opening the case either. I checked my monitor with my laptop & it's OK,no problem at all.

Alright let's eliminate the PSU as a possible source of error once and for all. Do you have a spare PC or a motherboard?? Connect your PSU to the spare PC or motherboard and see if it boots. If you don't have any extra mobo take you PSU to someone who has one and try to boot. If that doesn't work then the PSU was the problem. If it works and the mobo boots then the problem is somewhere else.
