after a year I build a new gaming pc I been getting a random black screen on all 3 of my monitor whenever I game which can happen between 10 mins to 7 hours down the line.
It is not a heat issue because I run speccy on one of my monitors to view my temperature.
I used two different PSU which is 850 watt and a 1000 watts.
I get black screen even when I test each monitor by itself.

  • I try disabling some bios setting which involved 4g something crptro mining and C-State to see if that fix it and that didn't do much.
  • The only change I did was updated my bios firmware which the problems didn't show up until 2 weeks later...?
  • I also try reseating my graphic card and 4 ram sticks.
  • I also check for virus and nothing.
  • I also reinstalling windows 10 and that didn't fix anything.
  • I also disconnect my Value index VR headset because I heard that can cause black screen and that didn't work as well.
I dunno what to do now...... =(

What make and model PSUs'?

If modular, be sure that you did not mix the cables between the two PSUs. Only use the cables that came with the installed PSU. Do not mix cables.

Make and model monitors - how connected (DVI, HDMI, DP)?

What game(s) cause the random black screens?

And you are or have done some crypto mining - correct?

Are all power and screen savers disabled?

Have you tried reinstalling the GPU drivers and (if applicable) any monitor drivers as well.

Run the built in Windows troubleshooters. The troubleshooters may find and fix something.

Also run "sfc /scannow" and "dism".

Look in Reliability History and Event Viewer. Either one or both may be capturing some error code, warning, or even and informational event just before or at the time of the random black screens.

With the problem being random (i.e., "can happen between 10 mins to 7 hours down the line.") there will need be more attention to what the system is doing or was doing prior to the appearance of black screens.

Simplify the system. Disable any intentional startups (meaning that you purposely put those startups in place) from the Task Manager Startup tab. Then if there other apps etc. remaining in Startup find out what they are and do.

Also check Task Scheduler. Nothing likely obvious because the black screens are random and Task scheduler is based on triggers that when triggered then, in turn, cause something else to happen. However, who knows what all is going on and some unknown issue triggers an app or utility to attempt to update, backup, or simply "phone home". And some such attempt (successful or not) could cause the black screens.

Set up one of the monitors with three windows: Task Manager, Resource Monitor, and Process Explorer. Observe the system first after a successful boot. Continue to observe while doing light work and browsing. Lastly observe while gaming. Get a sense of what your system doing overall and especially look for things that change or start to change while gaming.

[Note: Process Explorer. Microsoft, free. You will need to download it.]

What/where was the source of the online Microsoft Windows 10 CD? What version?

Windows pro 10 64 bit and version 1809

I change my nivida mangage 3d setting on power management mode to Prefer maximum performance to see it get rid of the issue since I found a post that it fix for some people who have black screen at random while gaming and soo far soo good.
