I have installed a brand new ssd (crucial mx500) in my old laptop and installed fresh windows 10 on it. But ever since then I've been getting random bsod with errors "unexpected store exception" or "critical process died" and the only thing event viewer shows is event 161 volmgr - "Dump file creation failed due to error during dump creation."

The consensus online seems to be that it's due to faulty storage but my ssd is brand new. Crystal disk shows no issues with it either. It has the latest firmware too. My bios is updated as much as it can be (it's an 8 year old laptop).

Any help with this would be appreciated.

BIOS version 312 is installed to the laptop?
is the SSD tightly fixated into the laptop and the power/data connections as well?

check the SSD with the Crucial tool and update the firmware of it if available

how did you install windows10?
windows media installation stick would be the best way

yes bios 312 is installed and already checked with crucial storage exec that latest firmware is installed. And win 10 was installed using usb install media.

The ssd works fine, speed is fine too and haven't noticed any issues other than the bsod. I can't open the laptop myself to check unfortunately. I'm hoping this is software related
