Hi,

I have been getting random BSOD crashes today (has happened twice now) and would like to sort it out. The two crashes are the same and are as follows: (screenshots from blue screen view)

If anyone can help me identify what is causing this, that would be much appreciated.

Please let me know if there is anything I am missing to assist identifying this.

Thank you.

BSOD caused by Nvidia drivers
Run DDU in safe mode and reinstall drivers - https://forums.tomshardware.com/faq...n-install-of-your-video-card-drivers.2402269/
if errors persist, run ddu again in safe mode but instead of getting drivers direct from Nvidia, run windows update and let windows find drivers, they just older more stable drivers.
Thank you for your reply.

How could this happen? I always keep my nvidia drivers up to date (and is currently)? Surely the testing done by nvidia would be problem proof?

How were you able to identify and be 100% certain that was the issue? (for my own knowledge)

I will try this and hopefully issue doesnt persist.

the 2 drivers mentioned
ntoskrnl - windows kernel - this is victim and it crashing was what caused PC to restart
nvlddmkm.sys- Nvidia drivers - this is what caused ntoskrnl to crash

As to why, I don't know. What gpu have you got? the one lot of Nvidia drivers have to run a load of different cards and some instructions may not work well for all cards. Sometimes the drivers get corrupted and a reinstall of them can fix. Sometimes particular versions just aren't as stable as others. If I knew why drivers that work for me didn't for others, I would create a sticky so everyone could know :)

if you get any more bsod
  1. Open Windows File Explore
  2. Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump
  3. Copy the mini-dump files out onto your Desktop
  4. Do not use Winzip, use the built in facility in Windows
  5. Select those files on your Desktop, right click them and choose 'Send to' - Compressed (zipped) folder
  6. Upload the zip file to the Cloud (OneDrive, DropBox . . . etc.)
  7. Then post a link here to the zip file, so we can take a look for you . . .

Hi, I ran the dump files through the debugger and got the following information: https://jsfiddle.net/h14k0t6o/show This link is for anyone wanting to help. You do not have to view it. It is safe to "run the fiddle" as the page asks.

If you are using Revision 1.x of the motherboard, there are BIOS updates available for your system. Wait for additional information before deciding to update or not. Important: Verify that I have linked to the correct motherboard. Updating your BIOS can be risky. Never try it when you might lose power (lightning storms, recent power outages, etc).

This information can be used by others to help you. Someone else will post with more information. Please wait for additional answers. Good luck.

Appreciate you looking at this.

My motherboard is the Gigabyte X570 AORUS ELITE WIFI (rev. 1.0).

So it is suggesting the BIOS needs to be updated?

if you do what I suggested before, that should be enough
Okay will do fresh install of nvidia drivers if happens again

do you use apple charger or just install all the apps on the Gigabyte App centre?
No i do not use any apple chargers on this pc. Yes, i have installed all the apps in gigabyte app centre in the past i believe

Should be newer version of Ryzen Master.
I have now updated all of those recommended after downloading the installer from that link

try running this and update your lan/wifi drivers - Gigabyte are slow - https://www.intel.com.au/content/www/au/en/support/intel-driver-support-assistant.html
This is confusing because i dont have an intel system so dont see why i would do this? Also, when i go to this link, it fails after scanning my system (im assuming because of that reason)

you don't need all the apps on the gigabyte app centre, I had it for a while as it does also update drivers but I don't like how it auto selects all programs every time you want to update

you have Intel LAN & WIFI drivers. this is from your last crash dump
Jun 15 2020e1r68x64.sysIntel(R) Gigabit Adapter driver https://downloadcenter.intel.com/
Jul 10 2020ibtusb.sysIntel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) Filter driver (Intel Corporation)
Sep 03 2019Netwtw04.sysIntel Wireless Wifi Link driver https://downloadcenter.intel.com/

I have the same motherboard, I wouldn't have suggested it otherwise
look here under LAN - https://www.gigabyte.com/au/Motherboard/X570-AORUS-ELITE-WIFI-rev-1x/sp#sp

Thank you for explaining. I downloaded the intel app and updated the recommended drivers (wifi and bluetooth).

As for the gigabyte app centre, understand what youre saying now. Should i do anything given i think i did install everything that was available?

Don't need to do anything if you don't get any errors from them. I just noticed how old the apple drivers are. if you have an apple phone they might help, I assume that is what they are for.

It did seem odd to me that an AMD system would have Intel drivers, but Intel make good lan/wifi chips and there aren't many other good choices. Realtek and Mediatek maybe.

Right i understand.

Thanks for your help.

So bottom line is if it happens again, follow through with the nvidia driver reinstall using DDU?

did you uninstall them once yet? my answer was to run ddu in safe mode to remove them and reinstall again,

if it happens again then rerun ddu again in safe mode but instead of getting drivers direct from Nvidia, run windows update and let windows find drivers, they just older more stable drivers.

if both those things don't fix it, we look at the resulting dumps of the newer errors. Both the errors mentioned Nvidia so it was pretty clear.

Have not done it yet.

If i do have another crash, I will run DDU in safe mode and perform a fresh install of drivers from Windows and skip even getting them from nvidia for a more stable solution to identify if that was the cause.

Hey, still BSOD :-(

Have uninstalled drivers with DDU and only installed the drivers from Windows update.

This is the latest crash: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/k40252b64xvdkrm/AACJTKnyLpoaGrGe5CiFqAYIa?dl=0

What else could it be?

Appreciate any help to sort this out.

that one mentions 2 things that tell me its internet related

tcpip.sys - transmission control protocol/internet protocol - used by windows to talk to internet
netio.sys - network input output driver - lan drivers

I know you updated the drivers, do you Ethernet or WIFI?

i might be wrong but try updating vpn software ass well. this might be fine, its just old
Aug 01 2018tapsurfshark.sysTAP-Windows Virtual Network (NDIS 6.0) driver
I assume its part of Virtualbox
