Question Random BSOD's on new build. Many components replaced.

Hi guys,

I usually post elsewhere, but did not get any good results, so I thought I would try here since many of my searches lead me here. Anyway, I am getting many MACHINE CHECK EXCEPTION BSOD's when I am gaming on my new build. I have also gotten them while just browsing before as well. They occur at random intervals anywhere from 10 minutes to hours at a time.

I have replaced the video card and RAM and still have this problem. I used display driver uninstaller and the prior nvidia driver to fix a crash I was getting in Apex Legends. I have recently bought the Crucial SSD to replace the Samsung (now a 2nd drive in my system) and loaded a new install of windows onto the Crucial SSD and reformatted the Samsung for gaming storage. I am not extremely PC tech savvy, but usually don't have problems assembling a new system like this.

I have just updated my BIOS to Gigabytes latest version, which is F12. I will try to post back with any results tonight or in a day or so since I'll be doing heavy gaming for a while.

Caused by Driver: hal.dll. Is this a hardware issue at this point? I don't know where to start. I have replaced a lot of components at one point in this new build. I even had problems with a previous MOBO not posting and bought my current one.

Ok. That answers that question. Next thing to do is run memtest86 for a few passes to check your RAM.

I ran memtest86 while I was out this morning and it did 4 passes of all the tests with 0 issues.

Motherboard has support for DDR4 2666/2400/2133 MHz memory modules. Use of 3200MHz memory may require manually setting memory clock speed in BIOS to 2666MHz, along with setting DRAM timings and DRAM voltage.

Leaving memory BIOS settings on [Auto] can result in poor performance.

Interesting. I went into BIOS and did my best to find and disable the auto feature. I set it for 2666 MHz, but haven't done DRAM timings or DRAM voltage yet, as that is pretty new stuff to me. I'll have to look into that in a bit.
