Hi.
My self built pc has been having issues the past 6 months. Games crash on it with no error and nothing i could see in event viewer either. Games support tells me its not game issue so now im stuck.

I can play some games without issues, but in ex. Grounded/Astroneer/Days Gone etc the game runs for 10-60 minutes and then just shuts off. No error code. Just shuts the game off with no warning. Ive had some bluescreens but they are very rare.
I've had no issues encoding videos or running other software. Just when gaming, and its driving me absolutely nuts.
At this point in time ive tried:
  • Updated drivers, reinstalled drivers
  • Updated windows
  • Switched out SSHD for SSD
  • Switched from old (8 yo) 700w PSU to new corsair 850w PSU.
  • Updated BIOS
  • Checked cables.
  • Reinstalled windows
  • Heaven benchmark software - No issues over a short period of time atleast.

Im thinking its a hardware issue, mainly mobo or cpu but i could very well be wrong.
This computer is 2-6 years old now
Specs:
  • I7-8700 3.2 GHz 6 core (6yo)
  • NZXT Kraken X53 (-1 yo)
  • MSI Z370-A PRO ATX LGA1151 (6yo)
  • Corsair Vengeance LPX 16gb DDR4-3200 CL16 (2 yo)
  • Corsair RM850e 850W (-1 yo)
  • MSI GeForce RTX 3070 GAMING Z TRIO (1 yo)
  • 4 different SSD's/NVME. Min 2 months old, max 3 years old. Games are run on different ones.
  • 2 Monitors
  • I run a USB hub, hardware sound mixer and a external mic if that information is needed. Everything has external power.

If someone could help me troubleshoot this issue out id be forever grateful.
Have a great day, thank you for reading :)

This might seem weak but this actually happened to me a while ago. Basically same periphs only slightly different yet same outcome. Crashes without errors or whatnot and occasional BSOD. Did almost everything known to man besides the extreme; decided to just wingwack a 1300 Watt PSU inside it for extra momentum; STILL CRASHES...................So...................as long as it's not something like Apex Legends that your playing and it's SP then...................either deal with the crashes or.......................don't game too much now....................

What was the old PSU? Unfortunately, it's certainly possible that if the old one was junky enough, it could have damaged components, especially the GPU. I think you're at the point where there's likely a hardware issue somewhere. I'd probably start by stress-testing the PC with the GPU completely removed and seeing if there was someone who woudl be willing to run your GPU for awhile.

I've now stress tested the pc with GPU, without GPU and stress tested the GPU on another pc.
Everything is stress tested using 3DMARK's 20 loop/"20" minutes stress test
With GPU: No issues, ran the test 4 times back to back (1080p and 4K gaming)
Without GPU: No issues, 2 tests
GPU in another computer: No issues, 8 tests (1080p and 4K gaming)

After these tests i booted up Days Gone, 40 minutes go by and i crash
I rebooted and tried playing Astroneer, 10 minutes=crash
Cyberpunk 2077, 1,5 hour=crash.
Im so confused :ROFLMAO:

I've ordered new CPU, Mobo, Cooling and RAM since that was in the works anyways and i wanted to find if this fixed it. Hopefully installing it later tonight/weekend

After installing these new parts ive had no crashing issues but i have gotten a new issue. The computer completely shuts down a couple times during usage.
I'ved tried updating the bios, checking bios settings, checked all cables on the motherboard and psu, updating drivers, ran different 3Dmark stress tests and checking the cpu for issues but this has lead to no change.
The pc has completely shut down most of the time except 1 BSOD. These past days ive had 8 complete shut downs. (08.06 - 2 shutdown, 10.06 - 2 shutdown, 11.06 - 2 shutdown|1BSOD, 12.06 - 2 shutdown)
The PSU was used in the previous build for 6 months with no issues
