Hi there,
I’m starting to get worried about what sound my pc is making. As you can see in the title, these electric sounds are not present when idle, but when i play games (such as Watchdogs, Far Cry 4, AC: O). Though, when i do heavy gpu benchmarks such as Unigine’s Valley Benchmark, the sound is not present at all.

The gpu gets stressed out to 99%, but when playing games the gpu sits around 90-95%.

Also, when I do cpu benchmarks (such as Prime 95, which really pushes it), the sound is not present either.

I don’t know what seems to be the problem. Can someone help me fix it?

Thanks, salm2s

I’ll see if its the fans
Specs:
Asrock Z270 Pro 4
Intel Core i5 7600k @ 4.5 Ghz (1.275v)
Intel 600p Series 128 GB m.2 ssd
WD Blue 1TB Hard drive
EVGA GTX 1060 SC edition
Cooler Master Hyper T4
2x Cooler Master sickleflow 120mm fan
ThermalTake LitePower 500 Watt PSU (came with the case, thinking of replacing it)

I would think of the psu as the rest of components are mid/high end. Keep in mind that the efficiency of the psu degrades under high load/temp and has to work harder to feed the components. Heavy gaming will push the psu to the limits which is worse than running dedicated benchmarks one at a time

So do u think its better to get a better psu. I was thinking of the Corsair VS550 PSU. I don’t want to spen more the $80 (And that’s AUD, but I’m willing to spend a bit more). Feel free to suggest better PSU’s, but I think that this PSU will be good

Alright, thanks for the help. I will consider buying the one you mentioned, but do you think the EVGA B3 550 watt psu is good?

Hey, sorry but i was just wondering, if it really isn’t the power supply, could it also be gpu coil whine? Because most of the sound is coming from the gpu.

Pls anyone there help me!

Thanks,

MERGED QUESTION
Question from salm2s : "GPU Coil Whine or PSU problem"

It's not that simple. Removing the GPU will cause less load on the PSU which may result in no noise.

My apologies on my initial post. Both the GPU and PSU can coil whine. I would start by temporarily replacing the graphics card to see if the issue persists. What recently changed on the system that may be the cause for the noise?

I haven’t changed anything really. It’s just the different games I have been playing. Normally I would play fortnite at epic to high settings, which also pushes the gpu, but the sound is no where to be heard. It is only the games i listed before that made the sound. Should i change my psu, Because that seems to be helping people with reducing the coil whine.

And i also dont have spare parts lying around

Here's how I would look at it:
1. If the sound happens only within the game menu and not while gaming, then the GPU is suspect (GPU Coil whine).
2. If the sound only happens when playing the game and heavy loads, then the PSU is suspect (PSU Coil Whine).

Hey there,
So, it seems that when playing games, there is a buzz sound, and in closer inspection it was coming from power supply (getting that replaced), but when i was in menu, there was also squeaky buzz sound coming from gpu. Should i also get my gpu replaced?

No, coil whine is normal for some GPU's. Besides, you could replace the power supply and find out it in turn fixes the coil whine.
