Question Random fps drops and low framerates

Getting low framerates and random fps drops in games that I was getting 80fps or more in consistently.

ryzen 2600
gigabyte aoruos ultra gaming x470
evga gtx 1080
750w evga psu
16gb of ram
Samsung 250gb ssd
sandisk 512gb ssd
1tb hardrive

could you provide a bit more info? have you got the latest drivers? what games and what resolution?

yes I have the latest driver for gpu. battlefield one and destiny 2. 1080p

If it happens randomly it could be something running in the background hogging resources. Have you tried monitoring CPU / GPU / Memory usage while gaming to see what's different? MSI afterburner has an option to overlay these on the screen.

If for example the CPU is mysteriously running at a higher % sometimes you could alt tab and check task manager to see what's using it.
