Hi! I currently am experiencing issues with my FPS when playing Battlefield 1. The game is running just fine but sometimes my fps just plummets down to 10/20 fps every fifth minute and it is really ruining my gaming experience. And the weird thing is that i dont have a bad setup either, as i recently bought a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 and have all the drivers required, this is basically a last resort as i dont know what else to do.

Setup:

over clock your processor, overclock your video card with afterburner. You can get 20 percent more oomph out of your card with the afterburner. And overclocking your processor will give you 5 percent more oomph. There you have 25 percent more oomph for the game! From reading articles it says the major fps drops are from intense fighting scenes including random mortar and artillery strike renderings which tax even the best rigs. So overclocking your rig to the max may help with this. And did you check which slot your video card is in? Just wondering. In the game video settings what setting do you have the "video scaling" set at? You should set it at 42% or a little lower. See if that helps too.

bf1 is very cpu demanding, and you have a weak processor so you are not going to get benchmark numbers out of the 1070

10 - 20 fps is low though

are you monitoring temps while playing?

install amd overdrive and check your thermal overheads while playing

You may have to sacrifice some quality for performance if you can't sort this out. How much have you tried tweaking the video settings? If you read Guru3d.com review on performance with amd chips and battlefield 1 it says that the 1070 does most of the work, and that you should be good with a 8350. Nvidia released a game ready driver yesterday for battlefield 1 make sure you have that. I bet, along with Maxalge, that you are over heating your amd chip. Is it overclocked? And if not why not lol? Try using cupid and monitor your rig for heating and general monitoring. Also are you aware there is a glitch with the memory in 1070's? Check the bios of your card. If it says you have micron memory on board you have to download the bios update for your specific card. Also try using afterburner to overclock your 1070 a bit and to cool the gpu with fan control. The cooler the better it runs. You said you just bought the 1070 card. What psu are you running? Last thing I would do is go to control panel and open device manager and line by line check for driver updates on all your devices to make sure everything is up to snuff. also when was the last time you checked for bios update on your motherboard? Good luck p.s. I see you have 8gb ram, with your setup I would recommend 16gb. (ALSO GAME CALLS FOR 16GB)

I looked up your bios for your board. http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4591#bios <---- you can download the bios here. It says bios f2j is most recent, check to see what bios you are running. You can check in bios screen at startup. Also while i'm thinking of it, look for and erase all amd drivers for the old card. FOR INFO YOU MOTHERBOARD IS RUNNING PCI 2.0 which isn't a big deal but everybit helps when running high end games. also add that 8gb ram for upgrade.

803 = 1600
the first D in DDR = double
manufacturers just advertise at the doubled speed because it sounds faster

Awwww hell no! My FX-8350 on stock clocks couldn't even keep up with my GTX 660. In COD AW (1280x1024p) I only got about 55 average fps and in certain areas it dipped down to 40. CPU usage was always 100% while GPU usage varying between 60-95%. While the GTX 660 is capable of pulling off 60 fps 1080p.

ok I was looking at a picture of your mother board. What pci express slot do you have your video card in? I see the top slot is pcie x16 and the bottom one is pcie x4. If you have it in the bottom one remove it and place it in the top one that should solve your problem.

He's asking for help, I'm trying to help him bump up his video lag. Stop being a nuisance and troll somewhere else.

Helping is fine ans welcome here. Unfortunately some of your information is not completely correct.

The scaling issue was resolved. The overclock advice isn't as clear cut as you make out.

I wouldn't say I'm trolling. I spend a decent amount of time on here helping people out.
I've been corrected 100s of times...read it, learn and move on. It's how you'll build your knowledge :)
