hi, so i have a Dell Precision T1650 desktop PCand it has some issues which all started yesterday.
I was just using the pc normally and then all of a sudden the screen went green, strangely it was in 4:3
Reseating the ram fixes it sometimes. the pc was on for 11 hours straight before the failure
it sometimes comes up with a beige screen, resetting the cmos makes it show a red screen.
Here are the pc specs:

i5-3330
8gb ddr3 1333
GTX 470 (but the artifacts occur when using the integrated gpu too).
Some old intel ssd idk

immediately after a shutdown it will not boot up nor output any video at all.
after letting it sit for a minute it will show errors such as front panel cable not plugged in (and other such bs) then it happily boots into bios, but after 1-2 minutes in bios it shuts off.

things i've tried to fix the issue:
  • testing cpu in other motherboard: passed
  • testing ram in other motherboard: passed
  • cleaning cpu pads and socket pins: didn't fix it
  • cleaning ram: didn't fix it
  • cleaning ram slots: didn't fix it
  • cleaning motherboard with ipa and toothbrush: (i'm tired of writing "didn't fix it so i'll just use "N') N
  • cleaning vga port: N
  • updating bios: N
  • installing drivers (maybe???? idk it was on the hdd which was before i switched to ssd)
  • cmos reset: (caused slightly different artifacting)

temps
average cpu temp when in use: ~28c
average gpu temp (when installed) ~49c
ram temp: feels room temperature to me
cpu usage peeks at like 30% when streaming

ethernet drivers: not installed
chipset drivers: not installed
gpu drivers: installed
sound drivers: not installed
intel gpu drivers: not installed

"but why don't you just install them" because the pc shuts off before i can finish downloading them lmao

this pc is used as a game server, don't feel bad for me, i have a nice pc that's perfectly stable :)

the issue has been found, it's a blown cap in the power supply, that's why it would die after a certain amount of time.

i hope this can help others who have the same issue
