Random High Memory and CPU Usage

Hello,

Recently I've been experiencing super high memory usage from out of nowhere. It first started when I started up Witcher 3, and it ran fine for a few minutes until it froze on me. I managed to Ctrl-Alt-Dlt and pulled out the task manager, which read my memory usage at above 70%. This kept happening every time I start Witcher 3. Now the problem has spread to other games too, causing high fps loss and stuttering. The problem also occurs even when I just started up my computer. I was watching a Twitch stream 2 minutes after I booted up my computer, noticed it was super choppy, and checked the memory usage. And it read about 44%, which is definitely not usual. If anyone could help me, that would be great. Thanks!

First use CCleaner to clean up and at the same time check your registry.
Run Malwarebytes in case you have any malware.
View your Local Services. You have the ability to modify these settings and select to stop or disable any services that are hogging your system. Microsoft update can have intensive use.
Just be careful not to disable essential services and if not sure, google it.

I ran CCleaner and Malwarebytes, but the problem is still there. I'm not sure what to do when checking my registry or local services.

CCleaner will interrogate your registry for errors but not to worry about that for now.

Open Task Manager (cntr-alt-del) the menu includes tabs for Processes,Performance, App history,Startup,Users, details and Services.
Analyze the Processes in use to see if any are hogging your system.
Go to the Services tab where you can right click a service to modify its value to stop start or restart.
Analyze those services that you may not need and modify for your requirement.
Be careful not to stop essential services and if not sure then google it for an explanation.
You can go to services direct using windows key+R and type in the box "Services.msc" without quotation marks.

I checked my processes and when I added up the memory usage from each process, it nowhere near added up to the amount of used RAM. I stopped several nonessential services and that did not work either.
If this helps at all http://imgur.com/hLWP6wb
I have 8 gigs of RAM, and the picture was taken about 15 minutes after start up.

You are on Windows 7 i assume and your pic doesn't show all processes. I am on Windows 10 which has more improved Task Manager Function. Please Analyze all processes. You can disable Microsoft update service as this can be a hog when running.

How is your page file quota setup?
If you are running low on ram you can increase the page file quota or get more ram.
If this is the case, I can show you how.

Malware or a Virus can hog resources. Run your virus program or Malwarebytes to check for that possibility.

Other things can hog RAM go here for a good read: http://superuser.com/questions/674649/windows-using-too-much-ram-how-to-diagnose-resource-hog
