Random High Ping Spikes

Been experiencing high ping spikes at completely random times which go up to 996 ping.

Sometimes these spikes can last for a few seconds, or they last for about 10 minutes+ (Very pisstaking for me)

Have no idea what to do.
 
Solution
Inspect all wiring, cables, splitters/filters, plugs, and ports. Modems, routers, switches, etc.. Every device along the path to the wireless connection to your computer?

Wireless USB adapter? If so carefully check it. May be failing and they tend to get very warm and even hot.

Check that all connections are fully and firmly connected. Nothing damaged, corroded, pinched, etc..

Where possible, swap out existing cables with known working cables.

Are you in an apartment, dorm, or other location where there could be other wireless networks? If so, maybe changing your network frequency and channel will help.

Call your ISP.

Have them check things from their end. May take several calls so keep notes about when you call, who...
