Random loading wheel Service Host: Local System?

I'm getting a intermittent but very frequent loading wheel (the blue spinning wheel). I think it is Google Chrome causing it because it seems to respond to opening new tabs etc. I'ts getting rather annoying and I don't think it's normal. Is this a known issue?

If you see that wheel elsewhere (like opening folders), it might be a sign that your hard disk is dying.

Maybe elsewhere but mainly when using chrome. It's only a quite new ssd..

It's really starting to annoy me now. It's seem's to be chrome related. Even after a web page has loaded the loading wheel keeps spinning unnecessarily.

It also just randomly starts loading while looking at a page sometimes to.

If it really bothers you that much why not use IE or Firefox? You can use custom themes in Firefox so you won't even notice it's not chome.

Well I'm not even certain it is chrome causing it, it has not always behaved this way. If it's possible to find out what's causing it I think that would be a better solution.

In that case use the other two and try isolating the issue that way. Visit the same sites, view the same videos, etc.

I guess so maybe. Is there no way of finding out what's loading? I've looked in task manager but can't seem to catch anything out.

If it's a chrome issue, there is no way to know without compiling your own version and profile/debug it. The easiest way is to just use other programs at the same time and see what websites cause the issue and if it's plugins or other issues.

I'm starting to think it's something to do with my disk because it's happening with program use as well.

I think it could be something under Service Host: Local System causing it..

That's a sign of hard disk problems actually, since programs go though that to do disk IO

Could you explain further? What sort of disk problems? I'm running my OS on a ssd which is quite new.

You should check the SMART parameters and seeing if the disk performance is in the acceptable range. disk check is also suggested.

Sometimes AV software also interferes with disk access, so see what happens when AV is off.

Disk age is not really an indicator of if the device is working correctly or not. In fact, you're just as likely to have a disk that's broken from the start than one that breaks in the first year (depends on brand and make of course)

How do I check the SMART parameters? The only AV I have is the built Windows 8.1 Windows Defender..

I have a Samsung Evo 850 250GB

When I go to check disk from disk properties it says "we haven't found any errors on this drive. You can still scan the drive for errors if you want."
