My laptop started to have a random Local Disk D (it wasn't there before, I just found it today). I'm not sure where it came from. The disk is 43.2 MB free of 462 MB. When I click on it, I don't see anything in there. I'm not sure why it is full nor what that is as it just appeared today. It may have slowed down my laptop's performance but I'm not sure yet. Is there a way to empty it or what is it?

I just bought a Dell XPS 13 9380, 16GB RAM, 512 GB SSD a few days ago.

It could be an SD or micro SD card that is not detected every time check if you have a Card reader populated by a card and whether it has proper connection to the motherboard or Sd card is properly inserted.
Are you able to browse and read files located on disk D.

I have a USB C adaptor to USB A (iXCC) a cheap one I got online that I just put in today since my laptop only has a USB C/Thunder port. Would that affect it? I unplugged it and still see local disk D

I unplugged it and still see local disk D. There isn't any file in there but the storage is filled so I'm not sure where that came from. I never put in an SD/micro SD card in the laptop yet. There isn't anything for Disk Cleanup to clean up either for that D: drive

Thanks! I don't know lots about remove drive letter thing. But does leaving that drive there do anything to the performance of the computer?
