Hello!

I have a problem I can't seem to solve. Basically, I lose my displayport signal out of blue. Sometimes my computer might work for a week without a problem, sometimes the problem occurs multiple times a day.
Today I was playing and the whole display froze and I had to force shutdown the computer. Sometimes I get the no display error when I try to boot my computer too. I've tried different cables and slots when it happens during booting but nothing seems to work, hdmi cable doesnt work either. After a while everything starts working normally again.

I didn't build this computer myself, it came prebuilt from Jimm's.
Specs: RTX 2080 super, Intel i9900

When you take the 2080 out and use the integrated gpu does it work then?
I didn't know I had to physically remove my 2080 when doing that.. I did try using my intergated GPU when I got the no display message while booting to see if anything changed, but it didn't help.
It's also super hard to tell if something works or doesn't since there might be no issues for a week or more.
I've never built PC so I'm not very comfortable with messing with the components.

You could look into the bios if you can get in there and make the igp the first option for display and diable the dedicated one, but if that doesn't work you probably need to take the 2080 out.
Just watch some video's about how to build a pc or how to take it out,

How to take a gpu out of the pc.
I'll check the bios first, thanks. Is there any possibility this isn't GPU related issue? Because if this works, doesn't that mean my GPU is broken.

I don't know yet trying to figure that out and yes if it does work with the igp then it might well be the 2080 that has problems.
There's a white light on my motherboard currently. Maybe that has something to do with it?
Hard to say what this means without knowing what motherboard, you can do the next,

download hwinfo,
install and open it=click run,
close the top window which is the system summary,
in the main window at the left top click "save report",
at the bottom of the next window check "Summary for Clipboard",
after that you'll see what's in the pc,
copy by clicking "copy to clipboard" and rightclick+paste in your next respons

Currently on mobile, since I still can't get signal to my monitor. It usually starts working again after force shutting down a couple times and unplugging the cables a few times.
I've got ASUS Rog strix gaming z390 f-gaming. When I boot at the moment it gets stuck on the white light, I think I'm supposed to have green light in it..

White led suggests that it doesn't go further than checking ram, try to reseat the ram and see if that helps. If not just test with one stick in the second slot from the cpu out (A2), test with both individually in that slot.

A link about the Qleds,

Thank you. I'll try your suggestion out as soon as I get home. I'll inform on the outcome!

Update: I removed my ram's and tested individually, but nothing changed. I still get the vga light on my motherboard every other time I boot and no display. sometimes the no display happens even after properly booting the computer and having display for some time.
Also checked the pcie cables going to my GPU, everything was well seated.

I dont know if this is helpful, but I do move my pc alot. I travel for work so I bring my pc with me. Is there any possible cables that could've gone loose I should check?

It also looks like my GPU is properly attached, isnt saggy or loose at all.

UPDATE: reseated gpu, upgraded bios, clean installed gpu drivers, but didn't fix the issue.
I did notice something weird while messing with stuff. After i started screwing the side of my pc case back, I lost display. Managed to replicate it multiple times and noticed that it's pushing/twisting my noctua cooler slightly.

I'm not exactly sure what's going on there? Is it twisting the cpu in the process or what?

Do reseat the cooler if you haven't already, see if it helps. Do use fresh paste and remove the old with isopropyl alcohol.
Make sure the cpu is well seated as well. That the retention system hasn't gotten loose.

Is it big cooler? Noctua has a few different designs. Might want to opt for a aio since carrying the pc around. Less heavy on the cpu itself.

It's noctua nh-d15 so it's huge.. I cant remove ram or anything easily. I havent completely taken the cooler off yet to check cpu since I dont have any thermal paste at the moment.
I did tighten the screws, both of them went a little tighter. Also reseated the cpu cooler's fans so they dont make contact with the case.

And with tightening the cooler still problems?

Still, since traveling, with the pc would i look for an aio which imo would be a better choice however good that Noctua is.
It's working at the moment. Can't say for sure if it's actually fixed yet since sometimes I have no issues for a week.. I'll update if anything comes up.

I'll switch to aio once my order comes in. I'll reapply the thermal paste and check cpu seating at the same time too. :)

Okay lets see how it goes. Do keep us informed.

When moving the pc see if you can fill the inside with something that doesn't conduct or creates static electricity. This to keep the gpu and the cpu cooler from moving. Some bubblewrap or something like that.
