Random PC Crashing

So today I was playing a game on steam and out of nowhere my monitor turned black and windows restarted. I went back into the game and the same thing happened but instead windows didn't restart, my pc was still on and was blinking but my monitor was black. I had to turn off my power supply to restart my pc. I'm using an R7 260x gpu and an Asus VX238H Monitor. Do you guys think it was a gpu problem?

Could be a GPU problem. Sometimes an electrical issue can cause this type of thing. I get random restarts like this in the summer when my neighbors are blasting their A/C, and the problem goes away each winter.

Make sure you have a good surge protector, but it only helps so much.
