Hey y'all
Hoping someone could give me a hand with this. It's been driving me nuts
Recently, my computer suddenly shutdown without any notice. One second I was using it, the next there was a black screen as if my house had just lost power. Attempting to turn the PC back on caused it to log in, then shut down once again. Leaving the computer off for a few hours allows me to actually use it again, but prolonged use with video playback or voice calls causes it to shutdown once again.
Initially, I thought this might be a power supply issue. Since I haven't used my PC in over a month, I went to cleaning out the dust and ensuring the temperatures of the CPU and motherboard were at a good level while using the PC. However, there's now audio glitches with the front audio panel, which causes audio oddities and speaker static. This doesn't happen to the rear panel. Additional, some small visual glitches have begun to occur where the taskbar may flicker or the wallpaper turns to black on startup. I've never experienced any of these issues before.
Right now, I've disconnected the old power supply and hooked up another model that I know works fine. While I haven't gotten any crashes yet, the audio is still bugged and the visual glitches are still present sometimes.
I'm here to ask any of you more experienced people if this is a problem with the power supply, or could it be the motherboard? I still get a single beep on POST and I can't see any bulged capacitors (nor have I heard any bangs). Is it possible the PSU is defective and the motherboard has now been damaged due to the sudden shutdowns? Any and all advice is appreciated. If more details are required I'll be more than happy to provide.
