Random ping spikes - would a powerline adapter help?

For about a year I've been experiencing large latency spikes that would vary in magnitude and frequency. I've tried using an ethernet cable but the ping spikes would persist. I'm considering purchasing a powerline adapter, and would like to know if anyone has had the same issue and if the powerline adapters had any apparent effect. My internet provider is BT, I do have infinity, but the cabinet in my area is still using a copper infrastructure. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Unforunately, No.
The ethernet connection is far better than power line adapters.

High spikes are probably caused by congestion or the signal degradation going into the modem.
I had a similar issue a while back and my ISP came to fix it. The coax line was failing and had to be replaced.
The coax cable test went from -11DB to +4DB. No more 500+ms spikes

I'll look into getting a new coaxial cable, thanks for helping!
