This past weekend I started having random reboots. Sometimes it would be BSOD other times nothing. It would happen at random (playing game or downloading game from Steam for instance or one instance of opening Speed Fan to check temps). Seems like system load has no impact

At first I thought it was hardware:
-Reformatted SSD
-At idle my CPU temps are low 20sC, GPU is 30C
-While playing Portal 2, CPU temps stayed the same, GPU temp went to about 38C
-Used one stick of RAM. Ran memtest and had no issues.
-Used Clear CMOS button on MB, no change
-Used HD Tune to check SSD and HD, no issues
-Using Prime95, my CPU temp maxed at about 50C
-BIOS says voltage on 12V rail is about 12.3V (need to confirm)
-Noticed that overnight event log would indicate a crash around 3:00am, same time Windows did automatic update. Had Windows update error 80073712
-Turned off automatic update, had crash overnight with errors:

Audit events have been dropped by the transport. 0

The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
CFRMD

Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.

along with a couple others.

I'm starting to think it's software related, but not sure where to go. Would a UPS be beneficial in case of a power issue? Check PSU voltage with multimeter?

Overclocked? Drivers up to date? Win7 SP1? Any outstanding OS updates if you check manually?

A UPS probably won't benefit you here, but it is always a good idea. Surge protection at a minimum...

No OC, drivers appear up to date. I have win7 sp1. When trying to update I get "Update for User-Mode Driver Framework version 1.11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2685813)" but it fails every time. When updating via disk i get a reboot on the "Expanding Windows Files" step. Perhaps I'll try another format. Can't seem to get this update to work.
