Question Random reboots after installing new graphics card

Hello all, I recently installed a GeForce GTX 1660 Super Gaming XBV Graphics card by MSI in my Dell XPS 8700 PC. Since installing the graphics card, the PC randomly restarts by itself. Just a random reboot for no reason? No errors. The specs for the graphics card were a 450 W Power Supply so I should be OK there. My PC has Windows 10 64 bit OS, 32 GB G.Skill RAM. Any ideas as to what the issue maybe? TIA

What are the Dell PSU specs?
I'm still suspecting the power supply.
Have you checked the temps?
Did you have a GPU in there prior to the new one?

PSU on this PC is 450W
How do you check the temp?
Just the GPU that came with the PC which was a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 645 1.0GB G DDR5

does you psu have a 8 pins connector for the gpu if not wont work so they also ask for a 450 watts psu to only run gpu .

I had to install a 6 PIn to 8 PIN connector. Does that mean my PSU is not sufficient?

it might be since this 6 to 8 pins dont give full power try to use a higher power psu with 8 pins connector for test .

Install it. Run it, You will see Power Limit on display. Drag it and click apply (Check Button) then minimize it.

check psu if it is dell proprietary one or a regular atx connector if your not sure post a picture of all the psu cable here that goes in the system .

Thanks! Just downloaded and set to 70% so hopefully that does the trick! Im not a heavy gamer but bought the card for Farm Sim 19 as the old one did not cut it.

Ye that fine. that less >50 Celsius. as long GPU does not reach 90 Celsius. so go try and play and see if it random reboot again.

Ok, it was fine for quite awhile and just rebooted. Can it be set lower than 70 or is there a minimum?

You can set it lower. the problem is your PSU it not giving enough power. so try limit it to 50%.

Thanks! It appears it is overwriting my setting. I changed it and it went back to 100 at one point possibly during the game. I also browsed settings and tried the "forced constant voltage" and it didnt seem to work as when I rebooted it was set back to 100?

You have to go Settings on MSI and enable it to auto start

then create a profile then lock it.

Thanks for all your help. Unfortunately I think the suspicions were correct on my PSU. Any idea which one would work with my XPS 8700?

Your PSU dimensions: 140mm (L) x 86mm (H) x 150mm (W)

SO you have to find a PSU somewhere match that. I Suggest get a Full Modular one.. As long the W and H of PSU match.. you dont have to worry about the L.
