Hi all!
I've been struggling with a headache of of computer for a few months now. Back in February I started getting random shutdowns about 1-2 times a week. As I went on it became more and more frequent up to 3 times a day. I tested everything you could think of including the RAM, CPU, GPU, Harddrive, Drivers, Programs, Battery, Power brick, EVERYTHING.
I am not getting a single error code or BSOD. It instantly goes black. I have turned off automatic restart after system failure but the laptop still reboots after shutting off! ONLY however when I am plugged into the AC adapter. While running on just battery it shuts off and stays off.
I finally managed to get it to stop shutting down by disabling the Intel Turbo Boost in the Power Options menu of Windows. After a few weeks I was just doing my business on my computer and it started to freeze up. So I tried restarting the computer. To my suprise, Windows failed to start. I tried using recovery and it froze once again. So I said screw my files and tried to do a clean install of Windows.
Somehow my harddrive was wiped of all information and stated unallocated space. Windows would not allow me to install to this drive saying there wasn't enough free space.
So, I have a new harddrive now and a fresh install of Windows. During the install my computer ONCE AGAIN shut down about 3 times trying to install from DVD. Finally it stopped and I was able to finish installing Windows to my hew harddrive.
However, The stupid shutdown problem is back and is more frequent and sporadic than ever before. It will go a whole day with no issues then shut down 15 times within the first hour the next day. On top of this, my previous fix did not work this time for fixing the shutdown issue. I've also retested the GPU and CPU.
The CPU stress test ran fine without error and the GPU test my Nvidia GeForce GT 650m reached 90 C before I stopped the test. The same fan would not start up for my graphics but did for my CPU stress test.
I have updated the drivers and reinstalled these 3 times now. I have all drivers downloaded and installed since I redid Windows. I'm at wits end here. I want to cry this is so frustrating!

Solution
Sounds like a power issue. (won't turn on again without AC, changing your power options delayed the problems for a bit)

Laptop forums might be a bit more helpful, all I got is go through your laptop and just make sure everything is secure. Make sure the Ram is sitting ok as well as the HDD.

Good luck
