Hello,
I got back from school today and my computer monitor wouldn't display anything. I checked to make sure the monitor and computer were turned on and connected, and they were. I tried restarting the computer, but the boot screen still wouldn't show up on my monitor (it just stayed black as if it were turned off). I plugged my monitor into my laptop to make sure it worked, and it did. For some reason the restart button on my computer case does now work anymore. What is weird is that when I turn on my computer (desktop I built myself) via case power on/off button, it turns on for 15 seconds or so, and then restarts. After it restarts once, it stays on without restarting again. Still, I cannot get anything to show up on the screen. I've tried connecting the dvid port to both my GPU and my motherboard, but nothing shows up. I would say that this is an unexpected issue, but I have actually had similar issues in the past. In the past, my desktop would randomly restart. No matter how power intensive my activity was, every few days I would hear a beep, and the computer would restart. After the restart, I would always open the case and feel the hardware to make sure nothing was too hot, and it never was. This issue kept happening to the point that I completely reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled windows – it would restart a lot less often, but still had the issue. Lately, I haven’t really installed any new programs that could cause this, nor have I added any hardware that could be maxing out my PSU.
I’m not sure if it is an issue with my PSU, MoBo, Case, OS, or GPU. So, if someone could help me with trouble shooting so I can find out what the issue is, that would be great.
Here are my build specs:
MoBo: ASRock Z87 Extreme4
PSU: XFX PRO550W
CPU: i7-4770k
GPU: MSI GTX760
Case: Cooler master CM Storm Scout 2 Advanced
Memory: 16GB (2x8) Corsair Vengeance 1833
Storage: 256GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD and 2x 1TB HDD
