Random restarts when gaming

About 2 months ago I upgraded from my EVGA Classified 4GB GTX 770 to a Gigabyte 4GB GTX 970. Everything was fine but in the second day It randomly restarted without any warning or BOSD while I was gaming. I took out the card and put it back in, and there were no problems until it started happening about 5 days later. I thought the card was faulty as I have NEVER had any problems with my PC (not even a little one) since I got it around March 2014, despite going through multiple upgrades.

I've been without a card for a while now as I sent the gigabyte one back and got a refund. I recently bought a Zotac reference design GTX 970 from OCUK and the exact same thing has happened on the first day when gaming. It never restarts in general use (facebook or youtube), only when playing games. Also, it's not just with demanding games, it happened in Company of Heroes which isn't exactly too hard to run. I thought it might be a heating problem so I turned up the fan speed and there were no restarts, but when i set it back to automatic fan control it ended up restarting half way through a game of Splinter Cell Blacklist. (it doesn't seem to pick fan speeds sensibly in response to temperature change because it gets pretty hot - 80 degrees Celsius in about 15 minutes of benchmarking on Tomb Raider - I've adjusted the auto option now so that fan speeds are always a fair bit above their average speed at all temperatures and once again there has been no problem.

My specs are:

GPU: Zotac GTX 970 4GB
CPU: AMD FX 8350 (4Ghz) (never overclocked - temps are fine)
RAM: 1 x 8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3
PSU: Corsair Builder Series CXM 750W Modular 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX/EPS PSU

Sorry if I've missed something out, i'm only 17 and I don't have much experience with computers and I've never used any forums for help before so yeah.

Thank you

Does your Mobo have different pci x16 slots? I would try those if you do.

Make sure you do. If you do then Try disabling your video card, and use the on board card to run games like minecraft. See if the problem still persists.
