Random shut down

Hi,

PLEASE HELP.

I recently upgraded my cpu fan and case fans. While doing this I needed to remove my graphics card due to the size of the new cpu cooler. After installing the cooler and the fans I plugged the GPU into another port as it was easier with the new cooler and now when I start games or try and run a stress test my machine will shut down.

I don't get a blue screen.
Just black screen no warning.

I put the GPU back into the original port as a squeeze and for some reason the same issue occured again.

My specs are:

- Gtx960gaming2G - GPU
- AsusM5A99FXpror2MOTHERBOARD
- CORSAIR CX600M - POWERSUPPLY
- 8GIG CORSAIR Vengeance - RAM
- Freezer 13 cpu fan
- AMD 8 Core FX black edition

I just would like to know if anyone else has some across this issue as I wasn't upgrading the graphics card and I have seen this issue when upgrading in the past with friends machines.

Thanks

First thing that comes to my mind is that the CPU cooler is not mounted properly in terms of cooling. Have you remember to adding cooling paste between CPU and cooler surface?

Have you run a stress test that only stres CPU?

Is every power cables attached, included that on the GPU?

Yes i have added the cpu paste and yes all the cables are connected. CPU fan mounted correctly. Happy to double check.
i have not yet ran stress test on the in the cpu alone but i will try this tonight and let you know the results.

The CPU will run fine for however long i run start a game but the second a game starts to load the machine will shut down instantly. Do you think its worth re-installing all the graphics card drivers? Im unsure how they would corrupt just by removing the card. (i was extremely careful and ensured no parts where damaged)

Update:

I have reseated by CPU cooler and re-seated by RAM. Ensured all power cabled from PSU are connected and no capacitors on the MOBO look to be damaged.
Reinstalled the graphics drivers on the graphic card and this also made no difference. I was able to play a game for about 5 minutes but then the machine would shut itself down. (Does not restart)

What is the best type of test i can carry out to determine what is the issue?
The fans on the graphics card still do not spin. I read another page with a similar issue and was advised to try another power cable? i don't think the GPU is not getting enough power but unsure on how to test if it is.

Stress test on CPU was fine, when running on GPU machine would shut down again.

in my pc i have:
> cpu fan running.
> 4 case fans running
>2 gpu fans do not run. (Run on start up)

Thanks

Important question 1: Did you install or upgraded any drivers prior to the issue started? I mean - could you consider that be a possible reason instead of something gone bad during fan install?

Important question 2: Did you take all possible precautions to avoid ESD damage during fan replacement?
