My computer keeps shutting down while I am gaming. I thought I had fixed the issue by reverting back to Catalyst 13.9 and everything was fine while I was playing borderlands 2. Now I started messing around in Skyrim again and am getting the shut downs again.

I will play for about 5-10 mins, then the computer just shuts completely down, then starts up again. After doing some reading it seems this may be a PSU issue, but I just cant seem to understand how that could be with the PSU I am using. I think it may be a little overkill for my system actually.

This is related to my previous post where i thought I solved the problem.

Memtest passed
I had restored all BIOS defaults and still crashed
Then reverted to 13.9 and no crashing.
Overclocked CPU and applied XMP settings to memory
Prime95 ran and was good
AIDA64 ran for about 2 hrs and was solid
Basically Ive run every stress test and everything was solid

Seems like it has to my video card or the drivers, but thats just my thought.

Anyone have any input on this?

Definitely seems like a CPU issue. 60C is typically the highest you want your CPU to stay at. 85C is dangerous and will cause your computer to shut down.

Do your games slow down at all before your computer crashes?
Its in my signature, which I don't think shows up on mobile.

Here ya go:
Intel Core i7 4770k @ 4.2
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
Gigabyte G1. Sniper Z87
8 GB GSkill Trident 2400 Mhz RAM
Sapphire 7870 XT 2GB OC
Corsair 750HX
Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB SSD
WD Black 2 TB
Antec 1200
Windows 7 Pro 64
Monitors: 24" 1080p x3

Also, I am currently running an OCCT PSU stress test. I ran it a second ago and it crashed the computer, now its been running for a good 10 mins and still running. Im on my other PC right now while that is running.

Saw something on another site about not getting enough power TO your actual computer. It said to check your power strip to see if it was tripped due to a recent outage. I went and checked mine and realized something. I had two power strips plugged into one outlet. One strip was running a receiver, cable box, modem and router. The other was running two computers, 4 monitors and a a subwoofer.

I moved everything around so that my computer and monitors is on its own power strip in its own outlet by itself (except my phone charger).

Havent confirmed this works yet, but its something you could look into. Seems like it is a possibility I was overloading that outlet and my computer was not getting enough juice. Heres hoping...im off to play a game and see what happens.

Temps during Prime95 are around 85, borderlands upper 50's maybe 60's. Ive had all my monitoring stuff open on another screen while playing games and the temps and load while playing games never reaches anything near stress testing levels. Gonna run a prime95 blend here for a while and see what happens
