For the past couple of months, I've been having a weird audio issue. When I'm watching a video, sometimes the sound will become scrambled, static-like, and slow down for a second or two, then go back to normal. I'm pretty sure it isn't my headphones, because whenever I use them to play on my consoles I never hear the static.

It's not constantly doing it, just every now and then. That said, it's really worrying me. I'd like to find out what's going on so I can fix it before anything serious might happen.

This may be unrelated, but my HDD has been a bit noisy lately, although I figure this is just because it has moving parts unlike my SSD. Thought I'd mention it in case it might be related.

My system specs are:
CPU i5 4670K
MB MSI Z87-G45
GPU GTX 980
OS win10

Hi,

Does it happen using a different headphone or a speaker? Also were you playing videos from the internet or stored video files in your PC.
- Do try to uninstall/reinstall the sound card driver.
- Open Device Manager and uninstall the sound card driver.
- Reboot your PC and it should reinstall the latest driver there is.
- Test weather if the sound will be normal after the reboot.
- Also do run Windows Update and install the important updates available.

I've used my headphones on other devices and I never heard the sound there, only on my computer. At first, it would only do it with youtube videos. But now it's making the sound even on saved videos I have.

I will try to find and install the latest audio drivers and see if that works. My windows is up to date.
