Question Random unplanned update after crash

Today after I took my laptop(a surface book) out of my bag that's previously in sleep mode, it was very hot. When I opened it up, the screen would not turn on so I held down the power button and forced a restart.

After rebooting, it started a Windows update, which took about half a minute. After it was done, I went into settings > update and security, and the "update" that just happened did not appear in the logs. I also set my computer to update only in the night, so this update was obviously not a planned update.

What happened? Is my computer infected by a virus? Why was there a random update with no records of any kind?

Please check if the Active Hours setting is changed.

You may also want to Disable Fast Startup, reboot the computer, and then re-enable it to see if it helps.
